Ingredients
- 1 lb ground beef
- 1 small onion (finely chopped)
- 2 cloves garlic (minced)
- 1 tbsp chili powder
- 1 tsp cumin
- 1 tsp smoked paprika
- 1/2 tsp cayenne pepper (adjust to taste)
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/4 tsp black pepper
- 1/2 cup beef broth
- 8 small taco shells (soft or hard)
- 1 cup shredded lettuce
- 1/2 cup diced tomatoes
- 1/4 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 1/4 cup sour cream
- 1/4 cup sliced jalapeƱos (optional)
- Fresh cilantro (for garnish)
Instructions
- Cook the Beef: In a large skillet, heat a tablespoon of oil over medium-high heat. Add the ground beef and cook until browned, breaking it up with a spoon as it cooks.
- Cook the Onions and Garlic: Add the chopped onion to the skillet with the beef and cook until softened, about 3 minutes. Add the minced garlic and cook for another 30 seconds, until fragrant.
- Season the Beef: Stir in the chili powder, cumin, smoked paprika, cayenne pepper, salt, and black pepper. Cook for another minute to let the spices bloom.
- Add Beef Broth: Pour in the beef broth and stir well. Let the mixture simmer for 5-7 minutes, or until the sauce thickens and the flavors meld together.
- Prepare the Taco Shells: While the beef is simmering, warm the taco shells according to the package instructions, either in the oven or microwave.
- Assemble the Tacos: Once the beef is ready, spoon the mixture into the taco shells. Top with shredded lettuce, diced tomatoes, cheddar cheese, sour cream, and optional jalapeƱos.
- Garnish and Serve: Garnish with fresh cilantro and serve immediately with your favorite sides like rice, beans, or a refreshing salad!
